im not a fanboy , just own a PS3.

which i belief they got the trademarks for each of different console.

From the looks of it , while time pass by. PS3 lost almost all of it exclusiveness.

Now i predicted soon the sales of PS3 will drop. i mean rock bottom. if they didnt do anything

Xbox will sell like crazy popcorn and nuts.

Sony didnt do anything. while Xbox taking every good game onto their platform.

Sony will owned if they didnt do something…

the disadvantage

its gonna cost the company  a lot. i mean   it aint cheap im tellin ya. Those babies can only  be created by some of the newest technology and software.

and it took some time, when it actually works( with all the beta testing and bug terminator).

and more over the company would have some difficult time Maintaining the servers with all the updates and changing profile( if its not on a good system)

The good news is  , Customer would feel very comfortable with all the customization, they would stay in your web happily.

As a customer i would really love if i could customize my avatars, sig and well could change anything as i please. its really good to maintain your customer loyalty giving the things he or she might actually like(by being different )

How about with Online community??

well talking about Community , without a doubt the largest and the biggest community in Indonesia is Kaskus.

The bad side of it…well, like Mr Mark said. When it became the largest most populated Online Community. There is always some garbage stuff or Non-proper content. Its Not Suitable for Children. But i had to admit. you can find almost anything in Kaskus.

Another bad effect is about the lagging , well considered as the largest as an administrator you cant avoid that problem. Not to mention the Information Overload and redudancy.

The advantage of it that you can keep your customer to be more of addicting

( if they find it to be amusing them) they will stay longer , gradually keep posting something and if the post was a good or superb , they eventually can invite other people to stay on the web, or even better make someone new to join the Community.

And all of that thing are documented its really good if you are . So they can search it more , or simply Bookmark it.

Direct Mail

mm disadvantage of it, well you could said when some company try to send some mail. They just end up in the Spam Folders. Well yeah maybe not all of them. But forward stuff goes into spam for sure. The customer wont see or read about what are the company try to say. thats a waste of efforts

The advantage however . Its cheap and nearly cost nothing just. Send them( dont forward them) and keep all of your customers aware about your new products, event or some promotion) that way you could keep your customer close to you

first of all i want to you guys to look at bestbuy.com

its an e-business website that sells almost everything. But we gonna narrow , a little bit.

we going into video games segments.

First of all … gamers didnt go straight to bestbuy.com to buy the games, the accessories, or buy some console.

They usually read the review about the games and upcoming games. and they can get the details.. what kind of games it is… what kind of gameplay that the game offers… and Readers testimonial.. well it really helps the gamers to get the information. and when they are done they can simply press the “get the games” button and there’s and offering from bestbuy.  Well gamers can easily but online and dont have to jump to another website just to purchase the games. it had a “compare prices” application.

So despite The separate Section of E-marketing and E-business. i Think they make a good combination. it really didnt push the gamers to buy games forcefully. rather than gives the review and  lots of information that the gamers might like.  so its really not an “ambush marketing” or some shitty marketing.  in the past gamespot had some really fans and lots of subscribers.

So yeah they are starting from the scratch…

in the current condition… gamespot currently becomes the number 1 (IMHO) gamers information, question, and solution  provider.

and it Really a good medium to select , searching and buying a games

well here goes the question

again im choosing bina unggul as my subject to these question.

If we ever want to implement e-procurement. first lets decide whether the company had setup a good relationship between them.

cause it will effect the transaction, whether it will go smooth or not.

after seeing how good the relationship.

we will now focus on the changes and problems.

The purpose of E-procurement was to cut cost. ill explain what makes it less cost than the usual business process.

first changes would be ” use the internet” more. cause usually the company made deals  , and it usually taking too long negotiating. and it wasting times IMHO. why dont they make some agreement( a long term would be nice) and the supply process would be faster. Because the long term agreement , they should negotiate the price for the Items, the transportation( usually the supplier handle this). it will cost less. Rather just have to deal or negotiate every time , supply went down. Simply tell them via E-mail or Messenger.

The problems that would occur are.

1.The changes that employee must handle. From Negotiating via phone –> into negotiating via Internet.

2 Less Cost means  reducing cost, and that means. Less work to do.. which lead us to hmm…….  cut the staff out. and Resistance will happen when we try to implement this.

3. Power Offline (“Thanks PLN , you’ve done a great job!!”[Sarcasm])when you got a great demand of goods in the market.You cant order since you are relying on this system to maintain supply

PT Binaunggul like we know in my previous post. They are a growing company that already starts concerning E-business , as one of their competitive advantage.

1. e-Business channel priorities

Binaunggul , right channeling is simply for online catalogue facility. Rather than online shops. They simply concentrate on Bringing the stuff they are selling into the customer. So still in the “Bricks and Mortars”.

Why binaunggul dont want online transaction?? , the answer is simply They want to but they CANT. The law issues and The cost of transportation in indonesia. is Really insecure .There’s just too many scam and fraud(especially Credit Card).

But soon after they established pretty well. they might wanna take the risk of Online transaction. Considering the wide and global of this ways. Lots of  potential customer is waiting to be touched.

2. Organizational restructuring and capabilities

The approaches that the company be willing to take. Probably is the

in-house division(integration). They might want to combine the catalog and the online transaction process into 1 web. they really want to get involved in the system. Simply put an administrator to run the site wont satisfied them. They need to know whats the process and whats going on.They prefer to negotiate by phone or by messenger.

3. Business, service and revenue model

The company business type is sell offline( for now) , make some delivery and maybe offering the new products to stores  nearby. Not just limited to that. The people there had some connection with factories and manufacturing business that constantly need new machine to improve their production.

The service that they offer are good stuff , worth the price. They dont sell junk or second class quality. They only sells the best quality. And if u are an “old customer” and they are your favorite stores. they will gave you discount. that no ordinary customer would get.

The revenue models will change soon, rather than just selling offline. a new market segment will soon be available if they are to implement the systems.

4. Marketplace restructuring

Disinter mediation , sell direct through stores and order by phone.

Binaunggul also setup a partnership between Industrial products.So if someone is ran out of stock. They will redirect the order to the partnership company.

While the buy side

Disinter mediation, this company Buy directly to the factory if its available.

because the price would be so much lower if they order in a high numbers.this way they could avoid an ascension in price.

Buy from other retailing distributors. If they think this benefiting , why not its always a good way to buy products from your competitors.

5. Market and product development strategies

Binaunggul apply market penetration strategy. And soon will be concentrating on selling more, online. by using

*Customer Value improvement and Customer Loyalty Improvement

they could focus on maintaining  old customer and attract new customers.

Maybe some low cost ad site would be profitable. example Binaunggul would want to put their ads in the industrial section. or in the Technic products .

6. Positioning and differentiation strategies

Anyway Binaunggul decided that they would take the price performance excellence and offer them a good , steady and competitive price.but  ensure the quality is worth the price.

also they might wanna apply  this Relationship excellence method.

It would make the customers feel that they are valuable to the company. with all the track records and history. might be one of the privileges.

As we all know a small retail company. Maybe didnt concern about this issues. They think they did not big “enough” to start making websites.

Competition is one of the cause that internet usage became rapidly growing.

Every company worried that his rival got one step ahead of him. So they all are making website and starts e-business too.

Planning is the first steps to make a good website.

- What kind of web will u be making?

- What is the goal of this Web, E-business? or just some marketing side?

- If u are a retail company , you will need a Web site that revolves around a catalog, Each product in the catalog contains a thorough description and often includes a photograph and product review. Catalog sites need e-commerce software that manages the catalog, provides a customer shopping cart, and includes a method for customers to pay. These sites may seem complicated to build, but there are many pre-built software solutions available to get you started.

- Once you choose the general type of site you want, you need to decide what features you will offer. The choices are almost unlimited, but some of the most popular additional features are: message boards, news articles, file downloads, and automated customer service, or Maybe some online stores that can handle delivery.

Before deciding the type of Web site you need, look at your competitor’s sites and position your site accordingly.

The next step  is the Domain name.

It represents The company. It will become the known ID’s in the Internet.

Also the company would want to make the Name to be easy to search on the search engine. And should be close to people’s known words.

Example if u run a Electronic shops. u would want a name that catchy ,  like

www.elecshops.com,  or something like that. If u use electronic as a domain. well i bet there are millions of domain name that use that words. U would want something different.

The next stages is kind a critical, cause its decide whether your website is always online, or keep getting shut down.

Hosting our own side might seems really pretty good option, but can we really could handle the cost,i mean we only maintain 1 website or 2 or 3 the most. why buy an expensive servers.When u can just host to a website hosting service. here’s the advantages and disadvantages of them

after u decide, maybe u want an option to build your own website, without a professional web designer , if u think u are good enough. This stages usually takes the longest time , including testing, retesting and implement the layout the images and all the stuff.

Starts telling people that u got a new website for your retail business, via E-mail, or on Facebook and maybe some brochure.

after all preparation is complete , go live!.

The last stages is , Maintaining and fixing bugs.

Maintaining is a Must, considering the traffic to your website will rising(hopefully) , and lots of  spammer, virus,or some crazy cracker that want to thrash your new website. all that kind of things that will make your web be unstable and maybe crash.

and dont forget , keep your site attractive , keep updating new stuff , or if u feel bored of your Site’s display change it. that way people dont get bored , visiting to your sites
There is always a bug in every aspect of programs. No programs is perfect , so you gotta do Continuous improvement and keep patching the hole. That can be used as bug abuse.

today were gonna talk about E-commerce , im just gonna have a little review at it.

“Internet is one of infrastructure in business as trigger of e-commerce appears which haven’t by anybody and also have by anybody”

First of all the definition of E-commerce itself

electronic commerce meant the facilitation of commercial transactions electronically, using technology such as Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

For me , E-commerce is a Facilitation ,that would help us to bring business into a new whole level . For example about keep in touch with our customers . Our Customers can just go online and browse and search all the information about all kinds of things that they want to know and all we have to do is maintain the situation. Its so easy, we dont have to bring the  new products to their home.

I think  e-business is  more  into strategic focus with an emphasis on the functions that occur using electronic capabilities.

While E-commerce had more narrow scope of meaning. It says whenever someone or something make a transaction of information. whether that is files, document or numbers. they all doing e-commerce.

So E-business and E-commerce is related but not the same.

The e-commerce had lots of good advantage for a company to have.

It can make the company go public. Gain more revenue , as they advertise their products to the world wide web. Millions of people can see the products, as one of them is a very potential customers.Without space , time limitation. Can reach throughout across the globe. Well yeah its kinda benefiting.

While the disadvantage of it, is that in Business world. The deal concern a face to face transaction. With e-commerce all u got to do is insert your credit card number, and just pray and hope that it was not a scam or some sick fraud.  The uncertainty level is very high. U cant sense the products, are they damaged? is it still in good condition

nevertheless overall this technology improves our ways of doing business , and if want to survive we must compete and make our company gain the advantage of the e-commerce , while try maintaining and controlling the negative side of the E-commerce

Well for the question

For an Organization you familiar with, examine the alternative business and revenue models afforded by the internet, and asses the options for the type & location of e-commerce transition.

Lets take an example

PT Binaunggul , is a store (might as well called them a company) that sells Industrial Fan, Compressor , and they can provide you with ventilation system.

The company  already had a website (www.binaunggul.com) to promote the company products.  But they didnt have  an online store. That makes me wondering , if we implement e-commerce in the  company. Would it work??

Like most of the problems that online shopping had.  Buying Industrial tools, equipment and machine at the  online shop. Would make people feels worry. Are the tools works properly? Do they need some kind of mechanism or manual procedure. If you are talking about manual ( it didnt help much, said an experienced sales person of the company)  Looks like there is something that manual cant taught.

Another problems that might occurred , the company sure wants to go global. Gripping more market share and more customers. But the law in Indonesia really made it so hard and difficult doing e-business.  Lots of Credit card frauds, Malware collecting ID’s and passwords.  Online shoppings seems impposible. Not to mention the Cost of Delivering the products to the customer.Nowadays Transportation still expensive , the lacks of roads, access from  one place to another ,isolated region.

Marketplace Position

Binaunggul as a distributor whether they like it or not still get the impact of global crisis, the company that produce the goods  must raise the price to a certain level that makes sales dropped heavily. With Industrial section being bankrupt and overwhelm by products for abroad(imports).

Revenue Model

Direct selling and offline store generate the best revenue so far , to the company. And also Opening shops and store in a strategic position , increases the income.
